Washington High School is located in South Bend, Indiana on the west side of the city. The original building was constructed in the 1950s and has had several additions over the years. The most recent change has been a three-phase addition of a new math wing of classrooms and the renovation of most of the building, which was just completed in December of 2007. Part of the fourth phase, a bus pull-off is currently under construction and looks to be ready for the 2009-2010 School year. Hopefully, the other part of that phase, the addition of more classrooms will be forth coming.
The west side of South Bend still serves three predominant ethnic groups -- African-American, Polish, and Hispanic.
