The Michiana Peace and Justice Coalition  (MPJC)  is sponsoring a march and rally titled “Justice, not Revenge”  in support of  alternative responses to the Sept. 11 attack on the United States on Dec. 2, 2001 in South Bend.  The march will begin with a gathering at l – 1:30p at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Hill and LaSalle, follow with a walk to Congressmember’s Roemer’s office on Main Street, and  return to the church between 2 and 2:30 for talk, music and discussion.

Organizers include representatives from a variety of peace activist and religious organizations in the Michiana area.  They are part of a growing number of groups around the nation and around the world who are seriously questioning the appropriateness of the United States war response to the Sept. 11  attack.  The MPJC Coalition  feels that revenge, not justice, is being taken in Afganistan and that too many innocent lives have already been lost due to the U.S. war response.

Speakers and performers will include student representatives from the University of Notre Dame Peace Coalition,  Peter Smith of the War Resisters’ League, Rev. Michael Mather of Broadway Christian Methodist Church,  Rhoda Bradshaw, Joe Taschetta and more.

Meanwhile, the Coalition continues  Monday evening vigils at the corner of Main and Wayne in So. Bend from 5-6 p.m. every week.
