Dear Senator Lugar:
Thank your for posting your letters about Iraq on your website. We would appreciate also your analysis on how the war is affecting the state of Indiana.
To us, it looks like if there are those who are profiting from the war, Indiana is not.
The war has cost Indiana over 3.5 billion dollars and our own South Bend over 49 million dollars in taxes. This does not include the huge costs for future vet benefits or the costs to families from the disruption in lives.
We are attaching a copy of the week's dead. The number of wounded now exceeds 16,000 overall. The number of killed Iraqi and Afhghani civilians is now over 31,000.
It is time to end the war and this drain upon our state and country. We ask that you increase your efforts to do so and, moreover, to regularly report your efforts to do so to the citizens of the state.
