In a recent survey of Indiana schools,
many administrators expressed dissatisfaction with the number
of parents who "know about what is going on at the school."
Parents, too, in a recent informal telephone survey, revealed
their frustration over not always knowing what is happening at
their children's schools. Clearly, the intent--to share information and to be informed--is
evident for both schools and families. The key to moving intentions
to reality is good communications. Schools that communicate effectively pay attention to the
messages they want to send, consider the means by which they
send them, and invite feedback and input from families-practices
that go a long way towards helping families know what's happening
in schools. CONTENTS:
