PARTNERS IN LEARNING:

LONG-TIME ADVOCATES TO LEAD PARTNERSHIPS CENTER

 

Kate Gill Kressley brings years of experience in the area of partnership building to her position as director of the Indiana Center for Family, School & Community Partnerships. Prior to her recent position, Kate advised and coordinated Lilly Endowment-funded projects designed to stimulate and improve family, school and community partnerships. She has worked with parents, grassroots organizations, educators, funders and others in Indiana and across the country.

Sue Switzer, community liaison, has held several positions with PTA organizations, including serving as president of the Indiana Congress of Parents and Teachers, Inc. Performing volunteer work throughout Indiana has given Sue a familiarity with the state. In 1988 she was recognized as the Indianapolis Volunteer of the Year.

The Family Connection of St. Joseph County, Inc. will produce written materials for the Center. Since 1991, co-directors Sue Christensen and Ann Rosen have been writing newsletters, briefing papers and other publications, as well as conducting surveys and providing technical assistance on family and family involvement issues.

Susan Kontos, Ph.D., Professor of Child Development and Early Childhood Education at the Department of Child Development and Family Studies at Purdue University, will evaluate critical components of the Center's work. Dr. Kontos has served as principle investigator in the evaluation of several high-profile programs.

Indiana Parent Information Network, Inc. (IPIN), headed by Donna Gore Olsen, serves as the lead agency with fiscal responsiblity for the grant and is currently housing the Center offices. IPIN, located in Indianapolis, is a not-for-profit agency that provides information, peer support and education to parents of children with special needs throughout the state.
