The Family Connection

The Family Connection is a not-for-profit organization that provides information for parents and professionals on a broad range of topics having to do with children and families, or with the systems that serve them. The material on our site is primarily drawn from projects that we have worked on in the community (South Bend) or the state (Indiana). When time permits, we also add state and local statistics on children and families from outside sources.

What's New Check out recent additions to our site.

Information about Children & Families Briefing papers on Teenage Pregnancy, Male Responsibility, and Black Infant Mortality.

State & Local Statistics Provides information from Indiana, St. Joseph County, South Bend and surrounding communities.

Family Involvement Addresses family involvement in education; building family, school and community partnerships; and consumer involvement in agency planning and decision-making. Includes materials for parents, teachers, social service providers, and others.

Welfare Reform The changes taking place as a result of welfare reform are having an impact on children and families in our community. Included on this site: an overview of welfare changes and challenges, TANF numbers, and welfare reform from the consumer perspective.

Community Systems Contains a report on child care wages and benefits in St. Joseph County and the results of a technology survey of not-for-profit agencies and organizations in St. Joseph County.
