I'm David Miller, Mayor of the City of Elkhart and Honoroary Chairman of the Sister Cities Association. Today, cities once separated by months of ocean travel can be linked in nanoseconds by the incredible technology that surrounds us. As modern technology brings diverse and far-flung communities closer together, we must avail ourselves of the opportunities, resources, and fellowship that can stream into and out of our communities via cyberspace.
Three-fourths of the world's population now live in urban centers, their common concerns cutting across the lines of language, customs, and geography. Through programs such as Sister Cities International, we can join our fellow "global citizens" in addressing those common concerns. We can foster cross-cultural understanding and helop to create a better world for all; a world based on peace, freedom, and caring. I believe that Elkhart has a lot to share, as well as a lot that it can learn from others, and that's why we're committed to the continued success and expansion of our sister city program.
The City of Elkhart and the Borough of East Staffordshire have forged a strong and diverse, relationship, and I would invite you to become involved in this exciting program. We are proud to be a partner in the Sister Cities International program, and with the energy and leadership of the Elkhart Sister Cities Association, I am confident that our community can look forward to an active future in the international arena.
Mayor David L. Miller
