The city of Mishawaka was incorporated in July 1833. On May 14, 1867 the First Baptist Church was founded, making it one of the oldest churches in the community. First located on Mishawaka Avenue, it has stood as a testimony since 1920 in its present location on North Main Street. For 139 years, this local body of Christ has continued to believe in the plenary-verbal inspiration of the Bible (II Tim. 3:16), and to preach that salvation is in Jesus Christ alone by grace through faith (Acts 4:12).
